Rains fell heavily here this morning as the news announced the passing of blues legend B.B. King. As the music app cycles through songs that I haven’t listened to in some time, a cardinal hops up to the window as if listening. “Hummingbird” is playing by the way.
The cardinal keeps listening, chirping regularly as if asking something before it eventually flies away. But I wonder if in some strange way the bird doesn’t already know something that many humans in the world only have faith in. On some deeper level of knowing than I pretend to understand, I can’t help but wonder if what one living world has lost, another has gained on this day.
